The Ideal Height for Your TV

The Ideal Height for Your TV

When designing a TV room, most people focus on screen size and overlook one important detail: mounting height.

A television placed too high can lead to neck strain and uncomfortable viewing, especially during long movie nights. While mounting a TV above a fireplace may look impressive, it often results in poor viewing angles.

The ideal position places the centre of the screen roughly at eye level when seated. This allows your neck to remain in a natural position and creates a more comfortable viewing experience.

Screen size also affects placement. Larger televisions can be mounted slightly higher without compromising comfort, but the goal remains the same: minimise the need to tilt your head up or down.

Furniture plays an important role as well. TV consoles should complement the screen height and provide enough storage without visually overwhelming the room.

A well-positioned television not only improves comfort but also helps the room feel more balanced and intentional. Sometimes the best design improvements aren't about buying something new—they're about placing what you already own in the right location.
